What is NAD+?

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is an essential cofactor found in all living cells and belongs to the class of nucleotide cofactors. This dinucleotide consists of two nucleoside molecules linked by their phosphate groups, comprising nicotinamide riboside and adenosine. NAD+ was first discovered in 1906 by British biochemists Arthur Harden and William John Young during their research into alcoholic fermentation in yeast cells. The molecule plays a crucial role as an electron acceptor in redox reactions and is fundamental for cellular energy production.

Storage and Handling

Store NAD+ powder at -20°C in the original sealed container, protected from light and moisture. Under these conditions, the product retains its stability for at least 24 months. For reconstitution, sterile water or phosphate-buffered saline (PBS, pH 7.4) is recommended. Reconstituted solutions should be used within 48 hours when stored at 4°C, or can be frozen at -80°C for long-term storage up to 6 months. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles to prevent degradation.
